Our Verdict
Stake is the biggest name in crypto gambling. Its model is unusual: rather than a large welcome match it pays rakeback and reloads through VIP tiers, so the value accrues to regular, higher-volume players. Originals such as Plinko, Mines and Crash are provably fair with public seed verification.
Stake is restricted in the UK and its former UK white-label closed in March 2025. The group has faced regulatory pressure in Australia and litigation over its name.
Important for UK readers: Stake is not licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and does not accept players resident in Great Britain. This review is for information only and is not a recommendation for UK players.
Welcome offer in detail
There is no standing public deposit match. What Stake offers instead is a VIP programme: as you wager, you climb tiers that unlock rakeback, weekly and monthly reloads, level-up rewards and, at the top, a dedicated host. Affiliate codes advertising a 200% match circulate online; these are gated, change frequently and must be verified on stake.com before you rely on them, including any wagering attached. Offers change, so check the operator's own terms.
The main catches are:
- Rakeback is only meaningful at volume. A casual player will see very little from it.
- VIP tiers are based on total wagered, which rewards long sessions and high stakes. That is the opposite of what a budget-conscious player should be doing.
- Rewards are paid in crypto, so their value moves with the market after they land.
- Any code-gated match will have its own wagering and game weighting; treat the 200% figure as unverified.
Worked example: suppose a rakeback tier returns roughly 5% of the house edge. If you wagered the equivalent of $10,000 on originals with a 1% edge, the expected loss is around $100 and the rakeback roughly $5. On slots at 96% RTP, $10,000 of turnover carries an expected loss of about $400, and a 5% rakeback returns about $20. Rakeback softens losses slightly; it never makes the games positive value, and the exact percentages depend on your tier at the time.
The structure suits frequent, higher-stakes crypto players who would be playing anyway and want a share of the edge back. It offers little to someone looking for a one-off welcome boost.
Games and software
The Stake Originals are the draw: Plinko, Mines, Crash, Dice, Limbo, Keno, Wheel and others, all provably fair, meaning you can verify each result against published server and client seeds. The house edge on these is typically around 1%, which is low compared with slots. Beyond that, the lobby holds roughly 3,000 or more third-party titles from Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Push Gaming, Play'n GO and others, plus an Evolution-led live casino with around 100 or more tables and Stake-branded rooms. A full sportsbook sits alongside the casino.
Payments and withdrawals
Stake is crypto-first. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USDT, USDC, Dogecoin, XRP and TRX are supported, among 20 or more coins in total. Deposits credit after network confirmations, and withdrawals are usually processed within minutes, with the total time depending on the network and its fees. Minimum withdrawal amounts vary by coin. Fiat on-ramps through third-party providers exist in some regions but are not available everywhere. There is no card withdrawal to a UK bank, and UK residents cannot open an account.
Mobile app and support
There is no native app in most regions; the mobile website is well built and the originals load quickly on a phone. Some regions have an Android APK. Support is by 24/7 live chat and email, and in our experience chat responses are fast, although complex account questions are passed to specialist teams and can take longer. The help centre covers provably fair verification in reasonable depth.
Safety, licence and track record
Stake is operated by Medium Rare N.V. under Curaçao Gaming Authority licence OGL/2024/1451/0918. A Curaçao licence sets basic standards and gives you a complaints channel to the regulator, but it is not comparable to UKGC regulation. There is no GAMSTOP, no UK alternative dispute resolution route, and no UK segregation rules for player funds. Balances are held in crypto, so their value can fall sharply between deposit and withdrawal regardless of how you play. Stake blocked Great Britain and closed its former UK white-label in March 2025; using a VPN to get around that would breach the terms and can lead to confiscated balances, and we do not suggest it. The group has faced regulatory pressure in Australia and litigation over its name.
Who Stake is best for
- Players outside the UK who already hold crypto and play regularly enough for rakeback to matter.
- Fans of low-edge, provably fair originals rather than slots.
- Bettors who want sports and casino in one crypto wallet.
It is not an option for UK residents, and it is a poor fit for anyone who wants a simple welcome bonus or fiat banking.
